The project includes the reconstruction and shifting of an existing 5000 foot runway and associated lighting system and navigational aids along with reconstruction of associated taxiway connections. Inclusive of the runway improvements were grading improvements along runway shoulders and runway ends. Storm drainage improvements included removal and replacement of several storm drainage lines that cross below the existing runway. At these locations, full depth replacement of existing pavements is required.
Lighting improvements included replacement of existing runway edge lights, taxiway edge lights and airfield directional signage within the limits of work. Runway and taxiway edge lighting systems were extended to accommodate the 350 feet westward shift. Improvements to Navigational Aids include relocation and/or replacement of the existing PAPI systems on each runway approach. In addition the project will relocate/replace the existing Glide Slope equipment to accommodate the runway shift. The project includes all related work to the above mentioned elements including but not limited to, erosion control, filling of a small amount of wetlands, pavement markings and related electrical appurtenances.
