ADC provided structural engineering services for the study and renovation of Charleston City Hall, a historic building located on the four corners of law in downtown Charleston. The building which houses the mayor’s office and city council chambers was in need of an overall renovation and was found to have some significant structural deficiencies that were addressed in our designs. While the budget was not available for a complete seismic retrofit, certain areas were strengthened to improve the buildings performance during an earthquake. A similar methodology was employed to improve the buildings resistance to hurricane force winds. ADC worked diligently during the design and construction phase to support our client and ultimately the owner.
