The original project began in 1998 and included the investigation and design for the low-sloped, modified bitumen roofs, the copper dome, cupola, and the underlying roof structure. In 2004, the project recommenced with an expanded scope to address the total building envelope. This work included low-sloped roof replacement, copper dome repairs and modifications,removal and reconstruction of the complete Bell Tower, gold gilding of the dome, bell tower and four clock faces, structural repairs and modifications, modifications and improvements to roof drainage, epoxy injection of surfaces (concrete and stone), and repointing and repairs to granite and limestone wall assemblies.
