ADC is teamed with Perkins + Will and McMillan Pazdan Smith for civil engineering and Walter P Moore for structural engineering on MUSC’s new $350M Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital.

The new facility will accommodate approximately 200 beds. It will include a neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, labor and delivery unit, special care nursery, children’s emergency services, women’s services and other specialties. Like the Ashley River Tower hospital next door, this facility is designed to be a disaster-resistant hospital. Despite being built on a peninsula on a site that was once marsh before being covered with fill material, this hospital is designed to withstand an earthquake, a hurricane, and flooding while remaining operational.

Ground breaking could take place in 2017 and the new hospital could open in 2019 or 2020.
