This is the Embassy Suites conversion from the Old Citadel building at Marion Square. The original structure built in the mid 1800’s had historic masonry walls and four floors of interior structure. The hotel needed five floors within the existing wall height. Completely new fram- ing was designed to fit within the original walls. Temporary wall bracing was required during construction. Foundations had to consider existing wall loads and concern over settlement. A new skylight roof was installed over the original courtyard.
